Eats – Maine

Chart House (Bar Harbor) – We both ordered stuffed shrimp and were not disappointed.  It was a bit pricy ($25) but it was better quality food than many of the restaurants we visited.

Sea Salt Lobster (Saco) – Our first dining experience in Maine! We both had fried Shrimp and fries (chips) and got a generous portion of shrimp. The batter should have been seasoned; however, it was still tasty!

Angler’s Restaurant (Hermon) – I had to include the first place we enjoyed a boiled lobster dinner together.  The service was excellent because he took the time to show us how to eat it.  Went back a second time for an okay meal (salmon, garlic potatoes, blanched green beans).

Nautilus (Belfast) – Simply the best fish and chips ever!  Wonderful!

Seadogs Restaurant (Bangor) – we had a wonderful burger here although a bit pricy ($13).  Side items (onion rings, gator tots) were just ok.

Timber (Bangor) – We went here for our 41st wedding anniversary and both ordered the strip steak over sweet potato purée with asparagus abs macaroni and cheese.  I know we all love Mac and cheese but they are eating it as an entree up here!  Anyway, the food and service was excellent although pricey ($30).

Governor’s (Ellsworth) – After an enjoyable time at a local state park we decided to have lunch at Governor’s restaurant.  Deb got a Cuban sandwich with homemade potato chips.   I had fried chicken with a maple glaze.  Both were excellent!  Service was good too.  We also bought a giant peanut butter cub from their bakery.  Yummy!  We shall return!

Mason Brewing Company (Bangor) – We have found some of our best food in taverns as we discover the northeast.  We went there with friends from the campground who told us it was really good.  Once we got there the parking lot was completely full but there was a space available after 5pm so we took it—-well, it was actually 4:50pm so we rounded it up!  We ordered frites which were French fries covered in cheese and bacon.  Wonderful!  I got a burger with pulled pork and Deb got an old fashioned burger.  They were both juicy and you could tell they used good meat.  I do hope to go back before we leave!

Dockside Family Restaurant (Belfast) – we enjoyed our meal here.  I had crab cakes and Deb had fried shrimp.  Both were yummy.  We shall return!
